Alex Wexelman: “Crawl Like A Viper”

About This Poem

“Look to Steely Dan for my inspiration for this poem.” -Alex Wexelman

Crawl Like A Viper

In the corner of my eye, I witnessed the world come to fruition

High in the sky a tear from a

Cryin’ god. No

game plan. Just

Daylight out of the darkness; land out of the water. You know the story.

Listen, I’d think it outrageous had I not been allowed to

Stare, to gawk at the trees of forbidden fruit and the creatures rising from the

Sea. or is that incongruous with the big man’s story? I forget all the

Time. I wonder, I think, I attempt to be

Free, but is my will my will or am I being controlled by

Gamblers of my fate?

Goodbye good thoughts, my puppet master’s whisky

I am alcohol’s Victim.

Languid, I'll Die in the Night. I Cried and my tears created nothing.
